Hi Everyone
I'm facing a weird problem, and I hope someone here can help me out with it.. A right-hand problem, but since I play leftie, a left-hand problem for me.
basically when playing fast runs or solos, on a single string, using rest strokes, I can get up to a pretty decent speed. However there seems to be a weird jangly sound - not really audible when playing an accoustic, but if i play an electric, even with a mild distortion, it's really screwing everything up. It sounds something like a cross between a harmonic and a percussive sound - when moving up the fretboard, it seems to go down in pitch. Can't quite figure out what's causing it.
I'd really like to keep using rest strokes rather than a finger roll since I really can't get half the speed or control that way.
Hope I've been clear enough in stating the problem. Don't really have access to a decent teacher, so I'd really appreciate any help in sorting this out.

1968 Vintage Martin D-21 with STUNNING BRAZILIAN back and sides, and has the highly sought after “Small Maple Bridge Plate”. These were only made from 1956 thru 1969, with approximately 3000 being produced. It is basically a D-28 style, with Brazilian Back and Sides, Sitka Spruce Top, Rosewood Bridge and Fretboard, and Martin “Style 18” trim.

Has the usual b string crack, with the rest of the Guitar being completely crack free. Pickguard is lifting, and a small area of the lower waist binding @back, treble side, is separated a little. Clear pickguard installed on top, bass side. Really overall in GREAT SHAPE, with some finish checking and miscellaneous marks and impressions on the top, but nothing at all thru the finish. The back and sides show some minor/average finish wear, but is completely free of any signs of aging (no finish checking at all)! Saddle height is a full 5/64”, with action at the 12th fret 7/64” on the big E string, and 5/64” on the little e string....

Hi Folks,

I am happy to
announce that my solo cd, Noone Lasses, is now available. It consists
of celtic tunes arranged for solo guitar. Its just me and my Alberico
OM. There are a few standards of the celtic tradition, as well as some
more obscure pieces that i think folks will enjoy. Its a good mixture
of tunes, some up tempo reels and jigs, an O'Carolan piece, a few slow
airs, among others. I have arranged alot of tunes over the past few
years, and the ones on this cd are some of my favorites.

This
cd was produced by celtic guitarist Steve Baughman, and engineered by
Acoustic Guitar Contributing Editor Doug Young. I recorded it in Doug
Young's studio during spring and fall of 2009. Mastering was done by
Cass Anawaty up here in Portland Oregon. The fabulous album art is by
my friend Mike Losier. I am really happy with how the entire package
blends together. The sound quality is great, thanks to Doug, Steve,
and Cass. Mike went above and beyond...

Rafferty, Craig Wagner

Hello Folks!

I am searching for difficult fingerstyle arrangements of the same quality as those of Craig Wagner's "Chameleon/Superstitious" and "Cherokee" and Adam Rafferty's "I Wish." It is from both of these genres, jazz and funk, that I hope to find some material but I would be happy to play just about anything that's good. One quality that is common to all three arrangements I've listed is the use of moving bass lines instead of alternating bass. Another is multisection arrangements in which there is considerable contrast between the sections. Both moving bass and strong contrast between sections are very desirable to me. I'd be grateful for any helpful suggestions. Thanks!

Cheers,
Vince Carr

I've had a piezo pickup installed on my Martin DX 1. I use Martin Phosphor Bronze strings. I play fingerstyle stuff too.

As there's no EQ I don't have much versatility with the piezo and it's ver 'tinny'.

Should I buy a preamp? If so, which one?

I've considered getting a Seymour Duncan Woody pickup because I hear they have a lovely warm tone and are very reasonably priced.

Of course I'd love a pickup/mic combo, but don't have the cash to get one.

Any suggestions?

Cheers
