I build cigar-box instruments, and resonator guitars are a popular build item over at the Cigar Box Nation site.   We use everything from commercial
cone-and-cover sets made for mandolin and uke to home-made items improvised from nearly anything you can think of.  Paint-can lids, license plates...In my
case, the lid from a girl-scout cooking set.

			<description><![CDATA[ In the past I&#39;ve read about how people have taken less expensive resonators and just by putting a higher quality cone in them, they&#39;ve really improved
the sound. I&#39;ve got one of the Martin alternative  resonators but am not sure how to tell whether or not the cone is a spun cone or not.

I'm pretty happy with the guitar as a beginner instrument, but I have a specific question about choosing a slide.<br><br>I have tried several varieties (though by no means all) including glass, ceramic and metal.
