For a while now I've been thinking of compiling a list of all the tunes that could be regarded as fingerstyle standards, and ones that we should have in our repertoire. Obviously there's going to be a huge difference in opinion here, not least as fingerstyle embraces folk, jazz, blues country, classical and other material that I can only call contemporary (there's probably a better label than that), and i thought now that i've finally come across a forum for others of like mind (its lonely sometimes being a fingerstyler) this would be as good a place as any to invite everyone's thoughts on the subject. Here goes (and i'm not saying i play all these!);
Anji (Jansch), Classical Gas, mississippi blues, the entertainer (Stefan Grossman's), the clap (steve howe), romance (segovia), Summertime (various arrangements), tears (django), Cavatina (john williams arrangement), peregrinations (bert jansch), m'lady nancy (jansch) [a cracking version of the latter on youtube], recuerdos de la alhambra-the tremolo study, take five, Pachelbel's Canon in D (the Chief Noda arrangement is excellent), she moves through the fair (Davy Graham), I'll see you in my dreams (Chet Atkins)...
I could probably add a load more - i await with extreme interest your thoughts...
