I've been playing 30+ years and have been very fortunate over the years. I'm looking forward to sharing and learning with you folks. I actually tune the main guitar strings and the sub bass strings to many and varied tunings, based on the composition. For instance, on my tune 'Wood Dragon': (sub-bass, top to bottom) DGB#CAD (main 6 strings) EADEAD. This is the same tuning as Michael Hedges' tune "Because It's There", plus my low D addition for my 6th sub-bass string. The sympathetic strings are then tuned to match places in the music where I want to effect long "waves" of resonating notes. They are activated harmonically and enharmonically as I play. Most sympathetic stringed instruments are tuned by players chromatically, but I find that I enjoy somewhat more "isolated" waves of sympathetic notes. You can hear this effect on the above mentioned 'Wood Dragon' and other harp sympitar tunes. No tuning is out of bounds, even standard. Posts: 1005 07/28/08 08:33:50	Given the very low frequencies of a harp guitar, I would think that tuning of these must be done entirely by ear. Most electronic tuner already have trouble with the low D and C of regular guitars. Do you just tune to an octave of the note?
