It's come to my attention that Kenny Hill, a fine classical guitar maker, was just scammed out of two instruments in the worst way. The perpetrator paid with a faked cashier's check made out in the name of an old friend of mine who is neither a guitar player nor a con artist...the furthest thing from it...he is in fact a mild-mannered professor of Asian religions in the Netherlands. Kenny suspected that some identity theft was involved and Googled his way to my friend Jonathan, and they have now talked on the phone. Jon is understandably concerned about the identity theft, so they're going to keep in touch if the real bad guy is found.

I'm posting this to see if the community can keep an eye out for these (essentially) stolen guitars. Full details are on Kenny's blog at http://hillguitar.blogspot.com/, but the two guitars are Hill Signature Stand Up model guitars, #2687 and #2684. Both are Brazilian rosewood, one with spruce top, one with cedar. Kenny is out something in the five-figure range, which gives you a flavor of how brazen the scam was and how nice the guitars are.

If anyone sees these come up for sale, anywhere, you can contact Kenny at khill@hillguitar.com. It's a sad story. I hope we can help!
