My local stores don't have much in the way of unique guitars. I want to try something with these specifications and I was wondering if you could point me
in that direction. I'm looking for a classical guitar (nylon stringed) with a shorter neck length and width (somewhere between 3/4 and full size and less
that 2" respectively). I find that the 2" necks are too hard to wrap my thumb around and fret the 6th string and also I have trouble (or should say,
I think it might be easier) scaling the neck with it being shorter. I'm not opposed to a neck as short as a 3/4 size but I haven't found a nice guitar
that way. Do smaller scale guitars tend to come with smaller bodies? The sounds have always been softer, I think.
Also I would like to try an acoustic steel string guitar with the same specifications but perhaps with the jumbo frets I've just learned of. I am hoping that would make for faster, easier, fretting.
Do you think I am off base with any of my assumptions or desires here? I found this site: http://ourworld.compuserv...engths/scale_lengths.htm I couldn't make much of it in the way of nylon stringed guitars but perhaps a gibson model would be shorter? Also I read that shorter scale lengths produce a less rich tone, or something to that effect? What's your experience?
